Ever wonder what it would be like to drop 1,200 golf balls out of a helicopter?
Come to the Kewanee Dunes on Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. and see for yourself.
The Henry County Chapter of the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation is holding a fundraiser for the Henry County sophomores who will be attending the leadership ranch in Colorado this summer.
Twelve-hundred golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter piloted by Kewanee’s Dan Johnson over a hole in the driving range.
The “owner” of the first golf ball to land in the hole will win $1,000.
To purchase a golf ball “chance” for $10, call Wethersfield High School at 853-4205, or Kewanee High School at 853-3328. Chances are also available at Annawan, Cambridge, Geneseo, AlWood and Orion high schools.
Each high school sends two to four delegates to spend a week at the 160-acre ranch near Villa Grove, Colo., each summer.
The local chapters raise funds through events such as the recent dance and auction at Lavender Crest in Colona. The Rotary Club of Kewanee is a major sponsor of delegates from Kewanee and Wethersfield high schools.
